New Delhi: New variants of the virus continue to be a concern in the second wave of the Corona epidemic. Bharat Biotech said on Sunday that their corona vaccine covaxin is effective on variants of the corona virus found in India and the UK.
Citing a study published in the famous medical journal ‘Clinical Infectious Diseases’, vaccine manufacturer Bharat Biotech said that covaxin vaccination has come up in India and the UK against all major variants of the corona virus, including B.1.617 and B.1.1.7. has proved to be effective.
Currently, two corona vaccines are being given to people in the country. These include Covishield of Serum Institute and covaxin of Bharat Biotech. At the same time, another vaccine Russia’s Sputnik V will also be used soon. Bharat Biotech has done this study in collaboration with National Institute of Virology-India Council of Medical Research.
Suchitra Ila, co-founder and joint managing director of Bharat Biotech, said in a tweet, “Covaxin has once again been recognized internationally. This proves that vaccines are effective against all types of corona variants. This further enhances our credibility.
