Lucknow: The corona virus that has gulped down millions of lives across the world and ruined the economy of many countries has again begun to spread its tentacles. Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has reported 67 cases in the past 24 hours, says an official of the health department. Positivity rate has also increased along with the rise in the number of cases. Nevertheless, the infection is not as serious as it was during the first three waves of the virus.
Among the fresh cases, 13 were reported from Chinhat, followed by Aliganj (12), Indiranagar (11), Old City (nine), Kaiserbagh (seven), Sarojininagar (five) Turiya Ganj (four), Gosainganj (three), NK Road (two) and Gudamba (one). Of the total patients, 21 got themselves tested after experiencing influenza-like symptoms. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Agrawal, said: “No patient needed hospitalisation because most of them are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. All the patients are recovering at home.”

At least 16 patients, diagnosed with the infection earlier, are admitted to three hospitals. These patients had come to the hospital for treatment of non-Covid ailments but were tested positive during routine checking, he said.Sources further said that genome sequencing of the virus found in the patients with travel history was also being done to keep tabs on new variants. The officials of the health department as well as doctors have appealed to the citizens not to lower their guard.
