New Delhi: Over 1, 574 people have been tested covid-19 positive in the past 24 hours across the country. With this, the number of positive cases has shot up to more than half million, according to data released by the Union health ministry. Nine people have died because of the disease in the country. Five deaths were reported from Kerala, and one death each has been reported from Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana and Maharashtra, the health ministry data said.

The number of active cases have, however, declined to 18, 802. According to the data, there has been a decrease in the number of 596 cases in the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases comprises 0.04% of the total infection. The recovery rate has gone up to 98.77%, the health ministry said, adding that the daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.95% and the weekly positivity rate at 1.11%. The number of people who have been cured of the diseases has shot up to 4, 41, 02, 852. More than 219.62 crore doses have been administered in the country.
