Utpal Parrikar will file nomination on Thursday

Utpal Parrikar confirmed on Wednesday that he will file his nomination papers from the Panaji Assembly constituency on Thursday, January 27. He took this decision just days after resigning as a state executive member and a primary member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Utpal Parrikar will run as an independent candidate in the Goa Assembly election from the Panaji constituency.

Parrikar had explained his decision to run for office independently of Panaji, saying, “For some reason, I was unable to secure the Panjim nomination; instead, it was given to someone who joined the party opportunistically in the last two years. Due to the circumstances, I now have no choice but to choose the ideals instilled in me by my father and proceed to decide my political fate. As a result, I’d like to declare that I’ll be running as an independent candidate in Panaji.”
