AAP Announced Amit Palekar as The CM Face of Goa

Amit Palekar was selected as the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) chief ministerial candidate in Goa on Wednesday, ahead of the state’s election next month. After AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal indicated that the party would nominate a candidate from the Bhandari Samaj, which falls under the Other Backward Class category, Palekar emerged as the front runner to be the party’s face.

Palekar’s heart beats for Goa, according to Kejriwal. “We promised to present a Goa chief ministerial face whose heart beats for Goa and who is willing to lay down his life for Goa,” he remarked. In Goa, someone who can bring everyone along… Most essential, he should be a trustworthy individual. Amit Palekar is the man in question, according to Kejriwal.

The news comes a day after Kejriwal chose Bhagwant Mann, as the party’s chief ministerial candidate in Punjab’s upcoming assembly elections.

Palekar, a lawyer, joined the AAP last October. He has no prior electoral politics experience. Palekar has handled a number of high-profile cases, including that of former minister Francisco Pacheco, who was on the run after the suicide of his friend Nadia Joelle Torrado in 2010.

He claimed that he became a lawyer because his father couldn’t afford to pay a bribe when he qualified for a government position.

Other parties, he claimed, had sold Goa. “Look at their financial statements. They have only acted in a corrupt manner. People want a clean government; they want it to be free of corruption. “Do we want fresh clean faces who can move Goa ahead or do we want the same crooked people who have been running the administration,” Palekar questioned.

The AAP and the Trinamool Congress have been attempting to gain traction in the state, where the Congress was the single largest party in the last assembly elections but the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government in 2017.
