Yogi is now the longest serving BJP CM in UP

Lucknow: Another record has been established in the name of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP has four chief ministers so far in Uttar Pradesh, of which the record of holding the post for the longest time is recorded in the name of CM Yogi. Yogi government is going to complete a four-year term on March 19. So far, no CM has been able to remain in the BJP for three years in UP, but now this record has been broken by Yogi Adityanath. Although he had made this record of the previous year, but now he has confirmed this record further. It is expected that he will also become the first BJP CM to complete his five-year term in UP.

At various times in the BJP governments in UP, five Chief Ministers have been formed. Kalyan Singh has been the Chief Minister twice, while Ram Prakash Gupta and Rajnath Singh have been the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh once. Apart from this, Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister on 19 March 2017 and still holds his post. Among these BJP chief ministers, Yogi Adityanath is the first person who is going to complete his four-year term.

For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP government was formed in 1991 and Kalyan Singh was made the Chief Minister. Kalyan Singh’s government was dismissed on 6 December 1992 due to the Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya. Had the Kalyan Singh government not been sacked, it would have naturally completed its term, because the government was formed with an absolute majority.

The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh was formed for the second time in September 1997 and Kalyan Singh was seated on the chief minister’s chair. Kalyan Singh held the post of CM for 2 years 52 days this time, but due to a deteriorating relationship with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he had to lose his chair. After this, the BJP made Ram Prakash Gupta as the Chief Minister on 12 November 1999, which could remain in his post till 28 October 2000. In this way Ram Prakash Gupta was CM for only 351 days.

After Ram Prakash Gupta, Rajnath Singh became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from the BJP in the year 2000. Rajnath Singh remained in the post of CM for one year and 131 days. When elections were held in 2002, BJP could not return to power. After 15 years in 2017, BJP got a huge majority in UP and Yogi Adityanath was given the post of Chief Minister and now he is going to become the first CM of BJP to complete his four-year term.
