New Delhi: The world saw a beautiful sight in the sky today when the glowing sun took the form of a diamond ring. Many colors of the sun were seen in the whole world today. Somewhere red, sometimes blue, somewhere green and yellow. People give examples of moon for beauty but today sun also became moon.

Skywatchers along a narrow band from West Africa to the Arabian Peninsula, India and southern China witnessed a dramatic “ring of fire” solar eclipse on Sunday.

Annular eclipses occur when the Moon, passing between Earth and the Sun, is not quite close enough to our planet to completely obscure sunlight, leaving a thin ring of the solar disc visible. They happen every year or two, and can only be seen from a narrow pathway across the planet.

Remarkably, the eclipse arrived on the northern hemisphere’s longest day of the year – the summer solstice – when Earth’s North Pole is tilted most directly towards the Sun.

This eclipse started in India at 9:15 am and ended at 3:30 pm in the afternoon. Today’s eclipse also appeared in many states of India. However, in some parts it looked like annular solar eclipse. At the same time it was seen as a partial solar eclipse in the rest. The eclipse was in its maximum effect at 12:10 in the afternoon and in such a situation, Ring of Fire was also seen. The duration of today’s solar eclipse was about 6 hours. However, due to the change in Delhi, people are not able to see the solar eclipse properly.

On Sunday morning, its annular phase could be seen in some areas of the northern part of the country, including areas of Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand. Some of the prominent places on its narrow annular route are Dehradun, Kurukshetra, Chamoli, Joshimath, Sirsa and Suratgarh. The solar eclipse was seen partially in the rest of the country.

The next solar eclipse will happen on December 14 or 15 this year. However, it is believed that the next solar eclipse will not be seen in India. According to scientists, it can take up to five solar eclipses in a year. However, in a total solar eclipse, the sun is covered by a black layer of about 90 percent. Full solar eclipse is considered to be quite rare. It only happens once in 18 months. The complete solar eclipse cannot be seen from the north and south poles.
