New Delhi: During the hearing in the Supreme Court on Tuesday on agricultural laws, advocate Sharma said that the farmers’ organizations are not in favor of constitution of a committee by the Supreme Court and they do not want to go before the committee. On this, the Supreme Court said that it will give an interim order for this. The court said that if farmers can go before the government then why not before the committee? If they want a solution to the problem, then we do not want to hear that farmers will not appear before the committee.

ML Sharma said that ‘I have talked to the farmers. The farmers will not appear before the committee. They want to repeal the laws. They are saying that PM did not come forward to debate in the case. On this, CJI Bobde said that ‘We have the right to form a committee. Those who really want a solution can go to the committee. He said that ‘the committee we are making for ourselves, the committee will report to us. Anyone can go before the committee. Farmers or even through lawyers. The CJI said that since the PM is not a party in this matter, the court cannot say anything about it.

The court said that ‘we are trying to solve the problem in the best way. We must suspend the law using one of the powers. We want a solution to the problem. We want to know the ground reality, hence the formation of the committee. The CJI said that ‘we want to suspend the law, conditional. But not indefinitely. We do not want any negative input. ‘

The court sternly stated that ‘no power can prevent us from setting up a committee to evaluate the merits and demerits of agricultural laws. This committee will be part of the judicial process. The committee will tell which provisions should be removed, then it will deal with the laws.

Apart from this, on the appeal of the Center to stop the tractor rally, the court has issued a notice to the farmers’ organizations and said that they will hear the issue on Monday.
