War of Words Between Digvijay Singh and Scindia After the Latter Campaigns at Singh’s Home ground

Arguments began in Madhya Pradesh after Jyotiraditya Scindia spoke at a public rally in Raghogarh, home of Congressman Digwijay Singh, who he called a “traitor” for leaving the MLA party and joining the BJP. Mr Scindia, speaking at his maiden rally in Mr Singh’s pocket-borough yesterday, claimed his old Congress partner was uninterested in politics and had no love for development. Several Congress members, including the son of a former MLA, joined the BJP during Mr Scindia’s speech.

On Saturday, Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, spoke at two events in the Guna and Vidisha districts. “Traitors will not be forgiven by history. The betrayed will be remembered by future generations “Mr Singh, a member of the Raghogarh royal dynasty, made the remarks while speaking at a rally at Mundela village, Vidisha district. “Ahmed Shah Abdali would have lost the battle of Panipat if he (the then Scindia ruler) had aided Hindu rulers in the conflict. The Congress administration in MP would still be in power today if Scindia had not deceived us “Added he.

Mr Singh said at a public forum in the Guna district that the MLAs who defected from the Congress in order to destabilise the state government in 2020 each paid Rs 25 crore. Mr Scindia accused Mr Singh of employing Mool Singh in politics without identifying him.

The union minister said that he had been hesitant to visit Raghogarh in the past, but that he will now continue to do so. In response to Mr Singh’s claims, Madhya Pradesh BJP spokesman Pankaj Chaturvedi, a close associate of Scindia, said on Sunday that the Raghogarh royal family’s past is littered with traitors who aided foreign invaders during the years 1775-82. “Balwant Singh, the king of Raghogarh, had aided the invaders against the Maratha, and the Scindias imprisoned him in Gwalior for misleading the people. Raghuvir Singh, Mr Singh’s other ancestor, had aided the Mughals. His other ancestor, Jai Singh, was a British supporter. Before making accusations, Digvijay Singh should research his own family’s history “he stated
