Kolkata: A young BJP leader has been arrested on Friday evening in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, for carrying 100 grams of cocaine. In a dramatic development, Pamela Goswami, general secretary of the Bengal BJP Yuva Morcha, has been arrested for possessing cocaine worth a few lakhs under the car seat and in her purse. Along with Goswami, his friend and colleague in the Yuva Morcha – Prabir Dey – who was in the car – has also been arrested.
The incident took place in the New Alipore area on Friday evening, when Goswami and his associates walked towards a cafe on NR Avenue, when the police suddenly caught them. The police immediately stopped their way and started searching, in which they allegedly found 100 grams of cocaine under the seat of the car and in their purse. Soon after, the police caught them. As the police nabbed him, Goswami started shouting – the police is framing him.
Goswami’s bodyguard has also been arrested. He was also in the same car. BJP’s Samyak Bhattacharya said, “The law will do its job but did anyone put cocaine in the car?”
On the other hand, TMC leader Chandrima Bhattacharya said, “I feel ashamed that something like this can happen in Bengal too. This is the emerging real picture of BJP in Bengal.
