Bengaluru: On Tuesday (August 11, 2020) in Pulakeshi Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka, the mob ransacked the police station and the residence of the Congress MLA. Some people are said to have pelted stones and set vehicles on fire due to an angry outrageous social media post shared by a relative of the MLA.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said that three people have died in police firing in DJ Halli area of ​​East Bengaluru, while 60 policemen are injured. Curfew has been imposed in the areas of DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations till Thursday morning. At the same time, Section 144 is applicable in the entire Bangalore. The commissioner said that the situation is under control at the moment. Police has arrested the nephew Naveen, accused of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy, in this case, besides 110 other people have been arrested.

Police said that a large number of people gathered near the residence of MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy and vandalized. The vehicles parked there were damaged. The mob then targeted the police station thinking that the police had kept the accused in custody there. The mob shouted slogans demanding registration of an FIR in the case and arresting the accused immediately.

Police commissioner Kamal Pant wrote in a tweet that 110 people, including accused Naveen, have been arrested for attacking the police in the incident in DJ Halli. He has asked people to cooperate with police in maintaining peace. He told that the mob set fire to 25 vehicles in the violence, while 200 bikes kept in the police station were also set on fire. The police station has also been damaged in the attack.
