New Delhi : According to jail officials, Ankit Gujjar, labelled one of Uttar Pradesh’s most wanted offenders for several killing and robbery charges, was discovered dead in Delhi’s Tihar Jail on Wednesday morning. Ankit’s body was discovered in Jail Number 3 in Tihar this morning, according to press reports. The reasons for his death are yet to be known.
Ankit Gujjar was a suspect in eight different murder cases. His name was offered as a reward from both the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi police departments. While the UP Police offered a reward of one lakh rupees, the Delhi Police offered 25,000 rupees for apprehending Ankit Gujjar.
Ankit was detained in 2015 by the Uttar Pradesh Police; however, he was released on bail in 2019. After that, he relocated his activities to Delhi. The criminal from Baghpat in western Uttar Pradesh is said to have teamed up with Rohit Chaudhary, a Delhi-based mobster, to establish the Chaudhary-Gujjar gang. According to rumours, they wanted to extend their network in South Delhi.

In September last year, Ankit Gujjar, who had become one of Uttar Pradesh’s most wanted offenders, was nabbed by Delhi Police. Several more criminals from the South Delhi region had joined the Chaudhary-Gujjar gang. It was alleged that the gang’s members, along with its leaders, Rohit Chaudhary and Ankit Gujjar, were living together in Neemrana, Rajasthan.
Ankit’s death is noteworthy since the Delhi high court only a few weeks ago ordered the CBI to investigate the murder of a prisoner called Shrikant Rama Swami within the prison on May 14.
