UP: Twelve casualties in separate road accidents on New Year’s Day

Lucknow: At least 12 people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents due to fog on New Year in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

Police sources said that four people were killed and three others were injured when a private double decker bus collided with a container under Auras police station in Unnao district on the Lucknow-Agra expressway.

The accident happened due to dense fog . The bus, carrying around 70 passengers entered about 5 feet inside the container from rear. The bus was going towards Delhi from Bihar. All the deceased were the native of Bihar.

The deceased were identified as Salaluddin(35- driver) of Madhubani in Bihar ,Naseem Khan (23) of Darbhanga , Shakaut Raza (21) of Araria and Farooq (14) of Araria.

Meanwhile in Agra, 5 people were killed in 2 accidents on Yamuna expressway on Friday early morning due to fog.

In the first accident ,several vehicles collided near Mile Stone 85 in which 2 people were killed.

In another accident near Mile stone 92 , three people were killed in collision between several vehicles.

Another report from Moradabad quoting police sources said three people, including an infant, were killed in a road mishap this morning.

Police said that the accident occurred near Mahmudpur village under Chajlet police station on Moradabad-Bijnore highway when car collided with a truck. Later a mini truck too crashed with the car.

The deceased were identified as Prem Shanker, Savtri and Vansh. Four people were also injured in the accident.
