Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Task Force (STF) arrested two members, including the commander of the terrorist organization Popular Front of India (PFI), from Lucknow this evening, while simultaneously thwarting the conspiracy to carry out terror attacks in different parts of the country including Lucknow. Large quantities of explosives have been recovered.
According to the state’s Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar, the STF failed the PFI military commander Badruddin with his fellow Kerala resident Feroz Khan at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday evening arrested near Kukrail tiraha. These terrorists had come from Kerala to shake Lucknow in bomb blasts. A large amount of explosives have also been recovered from them.
According to initial investigations, they had planned to strike at several locations in Uttar Pradesh. Several top office bearers of a prominent Hindu organisation were also on their hit list.
As many as 123 PFI members have been arrested in last one year. Meanwhile, a high alert has been sounded in the state for February 17, which happens to be PFI’s establishment day.
16 high explosive devices (My battery detonator and red wire), .32 bore pistol, seven cartridges, Rs. 4800, PAN card, four ATM cards, cards other than Metro cards and 12 railway tickets have been recovered from his possession. . Many shocking documents have been found from both of them, on the basis of which further investigation is being done.
