Twitter appointed Grievance Officer for India

New Delhi: Micro-blogging site Twitter has appointed Vinay Prakash as its Resident Grievance Officer for India amid a standoff with the central government. Along with this, Twitter has also displayed the local address of the designated officer in India, so that anyone who wants to contact him can do so.

According to the information of Twitter, Vinay Prakash’s email id is [email protected]. At the same time, his office will be on the fourth floor of The State Building in Bangalore, Karnataka. This information has been placed on the website of the company.

Recently, Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said on Twitter’s disputes with the central government over the new IT rules that those living and working in India will have to comply with the rules of the country.

Twitter’s interim resident grievance officer, Dharmendra Chatur, stepped down on June 21, following which Twitter appointed California-based Jeremy Kessel as the new grievance officer for India. However, Kessel’s appointment was not in line with the new IT rules, as these rules mandate that all nodal officers, including grievance redressal officers, should be based in India.
