TRP scam: Arnab gave 12 thousand dollars and 40 lakh rupees, big disclosure of former BARC CEO

New Delhi: Former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta has made a big disclosure in the TRP scam case. He has claimed that Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami gave him 12 thousand dollars in exchange for tampering with TRP. According to the Indian Express, Partho has disclosed this to the Mumbai Police in a written statement. Partho has also said that he got a total of Rs 40 lakh for the fix rating in three years.

The Mumbai Police has filed a 3,600-page supplementary charge sheet in the court on January 11. BARC’s forensic report is also presented in it. Apart from this, the Mumbai Police has also filed a WhatsApp chat of the lengthy conversation between Dasgupta and Arnab, and a statement of 59 people, including cable operators and former Bark Council employees.

The Maharashtra government is in constant touch with law experts over the chat leak case. On Sunday, State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had said, “This issue is related to national security and the central government should answer it.” Deshmukh said, “The Maharashtra government is seeking a legal opinion on whether the state home department can take action in this case under the Official Secret Act, 1923.”

A few days ago, a chat between Arnab Goswami and former Head of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta was leaked. It was shared by Prashant Bhushan, a senior Supreme Court lawyer. According to this chat, Goswami was already aware of the Balakot strike in 2019. On 26 February 2019, the Indian Air Force carried out an air strike at a training camp of terrorists in Balakot, Pakistan.
