Tractor Parade: Farmers turned down Delhi Police’s proposal

New Delhi: There was no decision between the farmers’ organizations and the police on Thursday to take out a tractor parade on the occasion of Republic Day on 26 January in the national capital.

Farmers have been agitating for the last 57 days on the Delhi borders demanding repeal of farm reform laws and giving legal status to the minimum support price of crops and are adamant on taking out a tractor parade on Outer Ring Road in the capital on Republic Day .

After the meeting, the farmer leaders said that the police forbade them from entering the capital due to Republic Day when they wanted to take out a rally in Delhi. On behalf of the police, farmers have proposed to take out a rally on Kudli Manesar Palwal Expressway, which has been rejected by the farmers.

After the meeting, farmer leader Darshan Pal told that Delhi Police said that it is difficult to allow tractor parade on outer ring road and the government is not ready for this but the farmers have said that they will rally on Ring Road itself. There will be a meeting tomorrow between the police and the farmers.
