A member of the banned terror group Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind was slain in Srinagar, while a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) district leader was among two ultras killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, authorities said on Friday. The terrorist murdered in Srinagar was a cousin of one of the suspects in the Pulwama suicide attack in Lethpora in February 2019, which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men.

He was tasked to carry out a fidayeen assault since he was a cousin of one of the suspects in the #LethporaTerrorAttack,” Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, stated on Twitter. On Thursday evening in Srinagar, an altercation erupted in the Hamdaniya Colony neighbourhood of Bemina.
After the killed terrorist’s body was retrieved, an AK rifle and some ammo were taken from the scene of the confrontation. The Mujahideen Ghazwatul Hind claimed credit for an “attack,” saying three of its cadres “attacked the CRPF camp.” Meanwhile, officials claimed one of the two terrorists slain in Kulgam was a Hizbul Mujahideen district commander.

Shiraz, they said, has been active since 2016 and has been involved in recruiting young people into the terror ranks.
