Supreme Court refused to put a stay on Central Vista scheme

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to put a stay on the Central Government’s proposed Central Vista scheme for the present. The Supreme Court gave this decision while hearing a petition challenging the project. Under this project of about 20 thousand crores, the Central Government’s plan is to change the new Parliament House in Lutyens zone of Delhi and other important offices connected with the Central Government.

Chief Justice SA Bobde said during the hearing in the case, ‘One such petition against this project is pending in the court. At the time of Covid-19 situation, no one is going to do anything right now and so there is no hurry in it. ‘ Please tell that in this case Rajiv Suri has already filed a petition which is pending in the court.

Explain that the Central Government had issued a notification on March 20, 2020 to approve the land use change for implementing Central Vista Redevelopment in Lutyens’ Delhi. The petitioner argues that this is a violation of the extended version of a citizen’s right to live under Article 21.
