The security machinery around Mumbai fell into a tizzy on 6 August 2021, due to a bomb hoax. According to reports, police officials received an anonymous tip about bombs being hidden at as many as three railway stations in Mumbai, and the bungalow of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
The call was received on Friday night at around 9.45 pm, following which searches were held at the four locations, a police official informed. The bombs had allegedly been placed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Byculla and Dadar railway stations and Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu bungalow, the informant had claimed.

All the platforms at the CSMT station, the DRM’s office, parking lots and other suspect locations were fine-combed with the help of the BDDS and dog squads. Also, teams of Anti Terrorism Squad commandos, Quick Response Team personnel, and a few local police officials were requisitioned for the operation, but nothing suspicious was spotted.

Following this, the police tracked the number of the caller, traced him and detained him from Shil Phata near Mumbra. The caller is believed to be a truck driver from Marathwada. He has been detained along with an accomplice, and the process of registering an offense for rumor-mongering is presently on, the police official added.
