Security Officials Kill Pakistani Terrorist in Kashmir

Officials in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district claimed a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba was killed in an encounter with security forces on Tuesday. The terrorist, identified as Abu Zarara, attempted to flee by opening fire on troops, but was killed in the exchange of fire. According to them, his accomplice is on the run. After obtaining information regarding the presence of armed terrorists in the vicinity, security authorities conducted a cordon-and-search operation. After they started fire on the soldiers, the operation devolved into a battle.

The terrorist was killed in a successful combined operation by the Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police near Behramgala, according to PRO Defence Lt Colonel Devender Anand of Jammu. Zarara, he added, was a Pakistani terrorist who was the seventh to be murdered in the Rajouri-Poonch regions recently. “The first specifically trained and brainwashed militants were discovered in August this year to conduct operations in the Rajuri Punch area with the aim of launching an impressive attack,” he said, adding that he is most likely part of the Pakistani effort. He added that J&K’s military and police are monitoring mobile communications in real time. According to Lieutenant Colonel Anand, local residents provided important information about the suspect’s movements, which allowed security personnel to trap him and flee high in the Pir Panjal Mountains, despite the onset of winter. The terrorists were claimed to be sheltering in a Dhok (temporary shelter) used by nomadic Gujjars and Bakarwals during their summer stay at higher elevations. The site yielded one AK-47 weapon, four magazines, and four pouches.
