On Wednesday, MPs from the Samajwadi Party and the Congress conducted separate rallies outside the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha to express their opposition to the BJP’s anti-farmer policies. The business advisory group of the UP-Assembly would set the agenda for the Winter Session, which began today. The session is expected to last three days, according to sources, because both the ruling party and the opposition are focused on the Assembly election campaign.

According to insiders, the administration is planning to introduce a supplementary budget to give major development projects and initiatives one final financial push before the elections. Meanwhile, the opposition is preparing to confront the administration on topics like as crime and rising prices. Because the annual budget will be held after the elections, the administration is also expected to table a vote on account for the first four months of the next fiscal year. Meanwhile, the Assembly has chosen, as it has done since the onset of the Covid epidemic, to allow members to participate online in meetings.

MLAs from the Samajwadi Party sat outside the Vidhan Bhawan with banners and sang anti-government chants. Their demands included the resignation of Union Minister Ajay Misra Teni, a guaranteed minimum support price for farmers, recompense for those who died during the farmers’ protest, inflation control, and private sector reservation. On the other side, Congress MPs paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in GPO Park before marching to the Vidhan Sabha, shouting slogans and demanding that the government minister be fired. Meanwhile, the Vidhan Sabha paid its respects to former Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar and Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat before adjourning for the day.
