New Delhi: Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who scored the most runs and most centuries in Tests and ODIs, has been voted the greatest Test batsman of the 21st century. Sachin got a tough fight with former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara in this matter, but Tendulkar eventually prevailed.
On the historic occasion of the ICC World Test Championship match, a TV channel has started the process of voting to choose the greatest player of the 21st century. The TV channel’s commentary team and fans selected Sachin as the best batsman.
India’s great batsman Sunil Gavaskar said in a video, ‘It was a difficult match. Both Kumar Sangakkara and Sachin Tendulkar are icons of the game. But the winner of the greatest Test batsman of the 21st century is my fellow Mumbaikar Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.
Tendulkar made his Test debut at the age of 16. He has scored 15,921 runs in the history of Test cricket, with 51 hundreds. Sangakkara has 12400 runs in Tests while he has 38 Test centuries to his name.
