New Delhi: The key accused in the last month’s Aligarh hooch incident, which has claimed at least 35 lives so far, was nabbed in the early hours of Sunday, police said. Accused Rishi Sharma, who carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest, was held near Bulandshahr border in western Uttar Pradesh, Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani said.

The police had declared a reward of one lakh on Rishi Sharma. A huge quantity of liquor making equipment and illicit liquor including a Scorpio car have been recovered from the possession of the accused.

For the arrest of Rishi Sharma, the police was raiding in 6 states, for this he had put 500 phone numbers on surveillance. On giving information about the informer on Sunday, the police arrested him from the Bulandshahr border. So far, more than 40 people have been arrested by the police in the poisonous liquor case.

It is worth mentioning that so far 101 dead bodies have been post-mortemed due to drinking spurious liquor. In this case, so far 40 accused, including 50 thousand prize winner Vipin Chaudhary and 25 thousand prize accused Neeraj Chaudhary and a total of 6 prize liquor mafia, have been detained and sent to jail after interrogation.
