Patna: There is news of revolt in Lok Janshakti Party. 5 out of 6 MPs of the party have revolted against National President and MP Chirag Paswan. According to the information received, Pashupati Paras Paswan (uncle), Prince Raj (cousin), Chandan Singh, Veena Devi and Mehboob Ali Kesar revolted.
According to sources, the five LJP MPs wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla asking them to be recognized as a separate party from the LJP. Speaker will now decide according to law. It is believed that these five are in touch with JDU. All these MPs were dissatisfied since the time of Bihar assembly elections. The MP was hurt by the way Chirag Paswan worked.
The LJP had won only one whistle in the assembly elections and that MLA later joined the JDU. Now LJP has no MLA in the Vidhan Sabha or the Legislative Council. Just now, amidst speculations about the expansion of the Modi cabinet, Chirag’s name was starting to jump as a potential minister. JDU has expressed a lot of objection in the name of Chirag. In the NDA meeting, the invitation given to Chirag was withdrawn after JDU objected.
Chirag had made a scathing attack on Nitish in the assembly elections. JDU feels that due to the Chiragh, it has suffered in many seats. JDU’s strength in the Lok Sabha will increase if all five MPs join JDU. According to the rules, if two-thirds of the MPs in a parliamentary party of any political party separate and form factions, they do not come under the ambit of defection. These two-thirds of the MPs can merge with any other party. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla can examine this on Monday.
