Will the laying the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Singh University in Aligarh counter the persisting agitation of farmers in western parts of Uttar Pradesh alongwith neighbouring Haryana and Punjab ? The answer to this vexed issue will be answered only in coming days precisely in and around ensuing assembly elections but the move is definitely a respite for ruling BJP and an anxiety provider to its political opponents which is evident from the reaction of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav who brought in communal angel to issue.
The SP supremo even before the foundation laying ceremony of the proposed university has given a twist to the issue by asserting that Raja Mahendra Singh a, Jat icon was a secular person and BJP is only befooling the people in name of great stalwart.

The reaction of SP supremo is not surprising, rather expected as the move of ruling party to establish the University in name of Jat legend is bound to lessen the ire of agitating farmers led by predominantly the influential Jat community.
The poltical analyst term it as a draw back for non BJP outfits to provide Raja Mahendra Singh to his due honor and respect till date despite having so many opportunities for so long.
The proposed university is all set to somewhat viewed as a parallel and giant educational institute to historical Aligarh Muslim University and this will surely enhance the pride of not only Jat but also the rest of majority community.

The political pundits are busy in calculating what the harm farmers agitation may cause to the prospects of BJP if it will cause some eventually at all. A few months back the panchayat elections did not witness any significant adverse effect on ruling dispensation though it will be too early and too hasty to draw same conclusion regarding ensuing assembly election. The proposed Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University will undubtedly counter the unrest among farmers mainly influenyial and to some extent decisive Jat community.
It was not surprising when PM Nrendra Modi had a veiled attack on political adversaries for not recognising the efgorts and contribution of Raja Mahendra Pratap in freedom struggle. As a shrewd politician who believs in messaging, the PM delivered one regarding Jat icon which will also serve anxiety to opposition camp.
