Pushkar Singh Dhami selected new CM of Uttarakhand

New Delhi: Pushkar Singh Dhami will be the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Pushkar Singh Dhami is a two-time MLA from Khatima assembly constituency of Kumaon region. He is considered close to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Dhami has been OSD to former CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Dhami is also close to the Sangh. Former Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat announced the name of Pushkar Singh Dhami. He welcomed them with a garland.

BJP Legislature Party meeting was held for the election of the new Chief Minister in Uttarakhand. CM Tirath Singh Rawat resigned in a dramatic development on Friday. For the election of the new leader, a meeting of the legislature party was held at the BJP party office in Dehradun. In this, Pushkar Singh Dhami was elected as the new leader. Although many leaders like Satpal Maharaj, Dhankhar Singh, former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat were being claimed as contenders for the chief minister’s post.

The BJP had made Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and BJP general secretary D Purandeshwari as observers. Along with them in-charge Dushyant Gautam and co-incharge Rekha Verma were also present in the meeting.

Before the election of the new leader, Uttarakhand BJP President Madan Kaushik said that after electing the new leader, we will meet the Governor to form the government. Kaushik said that the Election Commission had no problem in holding the bye polls, but due to COVID, it could not materialise. In such a situation, resignation was the only option left.
