He said that the activist saw the comment of “will you marry her” out of context, which was meant to create controversy and tarnish the image of the court.” The Supreme Court said that in the context of the case, it had asked the petitioner whether he would marry the complainant. He did not ask him to “go and marry”. A bench of CJI Bobde said, “In that case, the proceedings were completely misreported before the court.
He said that the Supreme Court has given the highest honor to women as an institution by the Chief Justice of India. The bench never asked the petitioner to marry the victim. A lawyer said that some people tarnish the image of the judiciary and some arrangement should be made to deal with these people. The Supreme Court said that we have a reputation in the hands of the bar, we do not need to protect us in this way.
