On Monday, senior Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra chastised Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, and Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samajwadi Party, for failing to raise concerns affecting Uttar Pradesh residents.
Whether it was the Hathras case or the recent killing of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri, the Congress national secretary said that her party was the only one that spoke out against the administration on every occasion.

Priyanka Gandhi added that on her trip to Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday, she was held. On Sunday, an SUV belonging to the convoy of Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni’s son, Ashish, drove down protesting farmers.
Congress said that its leader had been held without a warrant for his arrest. However, the arrest was made since the environment around Lakhimpur was tense at the time, according to the Uttar Pradesh police. Congress members also organized a candlelight vigil to protest Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s arrest.
Earlier in the day, the Congress released a video showing Priyanka Gandhi Vadra mopping the guest home floor where she was being held. Rahul Gandhi, her brother and former Congress president praised the leader for adopting Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent Satyagraha norm.
A car purportedly belonging to the convoy of Union minister of home affairs Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish plowed down four protesting farmers on Sunday, killing eight persons, four opposing the three agricultural legislation and four of whom were BJP members. The farmers reportedly beat the other four to death.

On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh government reached an arrangement with farmers and decided to compensate the four farmers murdered in the event with Rs 45 lakh. It also filed two FIRs in connection with the incident on Sunday. The state administration also arrested Ashish Mishra and said that a former high court judge would investigate the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
