On the morning of November 25, four members of a Scheduled Caste family were discovered dead at their house in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. According to family members, a 16-year-old girl who was among the victims was raped before the murder. They have blamed the crime on a nearby ‘higher caste’ household.
The event occurred in Gohari village, Prayagraj district, in the Phaphamau police station area. Phoolchand (50), a native of Mohanganj Phulwaria Gohri village, used to work as a labourer, according to the police. He was sleeping at home with his wife Meenu Devi (45), 17-year-old daughter Sapna, and 10-year-old son Shiva on Wednesday night. According to reports, some assailants broke into the residence late at night and stabbed the victims to death using sharp weapons.

The event was reported to the police the next morning by the neighbours. The bodies of the four were found in a pool of blood when the police arrived. As soon as word of four members of the same family was received, police officers were on the scene. A forensic team was also dispatched to the scene, and an investigation was conducted. The SSP interviewed the family members alongside SP Gangapar. The village’s Dabang Thakur family has been accused of murder by Brother Krishna Chandra. The police have begun their investigation.
The remains of Phulchandra Saroj aka Phule, 50, his wife Meenu Devi, 45, and their son Shiv, 10, were discovered on cots in the courtyard, while their 17-year-old daughter Sapna’s body was discovered on the bed in the inner chamber, according to sources. Eleven people have been charged with gang rape and murder in a FIR filed by the police. According to preliminary investigations, they were attacked using sharp-edged weapons. Meanwhile, the bodies have been submitted for autopsy, and all possibilities have been explored.

The miscreants are said to have entered the residence by scaling the boundary wall and assaulted the family while they were sleeping. A blood-stained axe was also discovered near the crime scene, which police believe was the crime weapon. Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi, the Congress’s in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, is likely to make a visit to the deceased’s family on Friday.
