New Delhi: Today has completed four years of demonetisation in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described this move as helping to reduce black money and increase transparency. In his tweet on Sunday, the Prime Minister wrote, “Demonetisation has helped in reducing black money, increasing tax compliance and formalization and promoting transparency. These decisions have been very beneficial for national progress. “
Prime Minister Modi said, “Operation Clean Money was launched in the country after the note closure. After which self-assessment tax of more than Rs 13,000 crore was paid by the targeted non-fillers. 3.04 lakh people were identified who had deposited cash of 10 lakh or more but did not file their IT returns. He said, “2.09 lakh such non-filers were identified and they paid self-assessment tax of 6,531 crore.”
Prime Minister Modi said, “2015-16, 16.52 lakh crore rupee notes were in the market inside the country, which was 14 annually. Were increasing every year at the rate of 51 percent. If the note had not been held, it would have increased to 28.49 lakh crore by 2019-20. ” He said, “But due to the closure of the note, it remained only 24.20 lakh crore rupees in the current year.”
