Vatican City: Pope Francis has gone to a hospital in Rome to undergo surgery for colon stenosis. The Vatican gave this information on Sunday. The brief announcement on Sunday afternoon did not say when the surgery would be performed. However, it was said in the information that it would be announced after the completion of the surgery.
Three hours before this announcement, Francis greeted the public enthusiastically in St. Peter’s Square in keeping with the ‘Sunday Tradition’. He said that he would go to Hungary and Slovakia. A week earlier, Francis, 84, had asked for a special prayer for the Pope under the same tradition, pointing to a surgery scheduled at Rome’s Gemelli Polyclinic.

Francis is generally a healthy person but had a part of his lung removed during puberty. He is also suffering from sciatica and due to this sometimes he has to face pain, due to which he has to cancel his programs many times. Gemelli’s doctors have previously operated on several Catholic patients, including Pope John Paul II, whose tumor was operated on in 1992.
