The PM Poshan scheme, which will provide comprehensive nutrition for kids in more than 11.2 lakh government and government-aided schools throughout India for the next five years, was approved by the Centre.
According to Union minister Anurag Thakur, the Poshan (Prime Minister’s Overarching Project for Holistic Nutrition) scheme would also include the crucial mid-day meal programme in schools managed by the Centre and state governments.

The objective of the Centre is to eliminate childhood malnutrition in India by 2022. Multiple ministries will come together to reduce stunting, malnutrition, anaemia, and low-birth-weight infants.
The Cabinet has also authorised the doubling of the Nimach-Ratlam railway line for Rs 1,095.88 crore and the Rajkot-Kanalus railway line at the cost of Rs 1,080.58 crore. Furthermore, the cabinet has approved a 4,400-crore investment in ECGC Ltd. over five years to help exporters and banks.

According to the government, the measure will create 59 lakh new employment, including 2.6 lakh in the official sector. According to commerce minister Piyush Goyal, the cabinet has also approved infusing 1,650 crores into the National Export Insurance Account programme.
