Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the six-lane Ganga Expressway, which will connect Meerut and Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday, according to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Though no formal date for the prime minister’s visit has been set, government sources say he would most likely visit Shahjahanpur on December 18 and address a public gathering. “This PM’s programme is really crucial for providing new heights to the economy of Uttar Pradesh,” Mr Adityanath, who was in Shahjahanpur to monitor preparations for the scheduled event, said.
The chief minister met with authorities from the Bareilly division’s several districts, as well as public representatives. He stated that he had come to invite public officials and residents to the prime minister’s event.
According to him, land from 518-gram panchayats has been seized for the highway to be built between Shahjahanpur and Pratapgarh, totaling 7,386 hectares. He stated that construction on the project will start soon.

On the road near Shahjahanpur, there will be an airport for emergency landings of aircraft. Mr. Yogi Adityanath further stated that an industrial cluster is being developed. From the standpoint of development and addressing economic imbalances, producing job possibilities, and raising per capita income, the laying of the foundation stone for this highway would be a historic event, he added.
