According to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may open the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bilaspur in June. In December of last year, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated the outpatient department of AIIMS Bilaspur. Six government medical institutions and one private medical college are operational in Himachal Pradesh, according to Thakur.
The chief minister paid a visit to the Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (RKGMC) construction site in Hamirpur on Thursday and instructed the administrators to complete the project on time. This 250-bed medical college and hospital, according to Thakur, is expected to be completed by August of this year.
It would provide sophisticated healthcare services to the residents of the region, he said, once it is completed. Construction work on medical colleges in Nahan, Chamba, and Hamirpur is in full swing, he said, with attempts to finish them by September.

During his recent visit to Delhi, the chief minister met with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and urged him to provide more funding for these projects so that they may be finished on time. He went on to say that all of the medical institutes will give world-class medical care to the residents of the region.
