After parting ways with Emzarios Shako Bentinidis, Bajrang Punia has consented to the Wrestling Federation of India’s (WFI) idea of working with a new coach. Shako Bentinidis taught Bajrang a lot over their three-year relationship, and the wrestler is now looking for a new teacher.

“I have a good connection with Shako; he has been with me for the past three and a half years, and I have learned a lot from him,” Bajrang said. WFI is seeking for a new foreign coach for Olympic silver medalist Ravi Dhaiya, in addition to finding a new coach for Bajrang in the next Olympic cycle running up to Paris 2024. “Bajrang is looking for a new coach on his own,” Wrestling Organization of India Secretary Vinod Tomar said. “

“We are providing Bajrang complete freedom and support; we have already informed him that he has complete freedom from our side to select the greatest coach for himself, and that whatever assistance (visas, etc.) is required, we would provide it because we want the best coach for our pride,” he continued. Bajrang will return to train in order to prepare for the Asian Games, which will take place next year.
