LG overrules CM over reserving hospitals & COVID-19 testing
New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has reversed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision in which he said that only Delhi’s corona patients will be treated in Delhi government hospitals. The Lieutenant Governor, as DDMA President, has directed the officials to ensure that no patient is denied treatment on the grounds of not being a resident of Delhi.
On Sunday, Kejrawal announced that Delhi residents and private hospitals in Delhi will be treated only for residents of Delhi, while all central government hospitals in Delhi will be treated. He had said that in view of the increasing cases of Corona, the Delhi Cabinet has taken this decision. A day before the Chief Minister’s announcement, a five-member committee constituted by the AAP government recommended that the health infrastructure of the city should be used only for the treatment of Delhiites in view of the covid-19 crisis.
