New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Friday that no one should be afraid of the amended Citizenship Act (CAS).
He said that nobody’s citizenship will be lost by this, Modi government is not bringing National Citizenship Registration (NRC) in the country.
The CM made this statement in a media interaction after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi with son Aditya Thackeray. This was his first meeting with PM Modi in Delhi after becoming CM.
He said ‘There was a good discussion with the PM on the issues of Maharashtra. CAA, NPR and NRC were also discussed with my PM. Nobody needs to be afraid of the CAA.
”Thackeray said that the Prime Minister told that no citizenship is being lost to the amended citizenship law. The CM said, “The Modi government has also made it clear in Parliament that NRC will not be applicable across the country.”
Senior Shiv Sena leaders and MPs Sanjay Raut and Aditya Thackeray were also present during the press conference.
