On Friday, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes ordered the Haryana Police to take stern action against those responsible for lynching a man near the Delhi-Haryana border at a farmers’ protest site in Kundli. Vijay Sampla, the chairman of the NCSC, also requested a preliminary report from the Haryana Police within 24 hours.

At a farmers’ protest site near the Delhi-Haryana border, a man was lynched, his hand cut off, and his corpse fastened to a metal barricade, in a horrific event alleged on a bunch of Nihangs. Mr Sampla claimed the guy, named Lakhbir Singh, was a Scheduled Caste member.

Mr Sampla said the NCSC had requested a preliminary report from the Haryana Police within 24 hours, condemning the violence. He also demanded that the Haryana police take swift action in the matter. The Nihangs can be heard in the video claiming that the man has been punished for desecrating a Sikh sacred book. The dead were allegedly attempting to desecrate the Sarbloh Granth, a holy book of the Sikhs.
