MP angry over calling Rahul a ‘doomsday man’, notice of breach of privilege against Sitharaman

New Delhi: Congress Lok Sabha member TN Pratapan has given notice of breach of privilege against Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday for remarks related to former party president Rahul Gandhi being called a ‘doomsday man’. Reversing the allegations of the Congress and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi against the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said on Saturday that Congress leaders create fake discourses, stand with the forces that break the country and insult constitutional institutions.

Responding to the discussion on the budget, the finance minister also said that Rahul Gandhi is the ‘doomsday man’ of India. According to sources, Pratapan has given notice of breach of privilege against him to the Lok Sabha Speaker’s office regarding Sitharaman’s remarks.

In this notice, he said that the Finance Minister has accused the member of the House Rahul Gandhi of being a ‘doomsday man’, standing against the elements who broke India, and showing the country to be inferior. On what basis is she making such allegations? Pratapan said in the notice that the practice of making such allegations cannot be allowed in the House.
