Modi Govt aims to clear 17 new bills in present monsoon session

NewDelhi: The Modi govt at the Centre is aiming to push for few new bills, including three to replace old ordinances in the ongoing monsoon session, which began on a stormy note on July 19. Centre has listed around 23 bills to be tabled in the Lok Sabha in the ongoing monsoon session. Out of these, six bills have already been introduced rest 17 are new and will be introduced in the remaining tenure.

Meanwhile, it seems to be a daunting task for the Modi govt to table and pass the bills amid the present chaos and obstruction by the opposition parties following Pegasus scandal, farmers’ protest and on the issue of rising fuel prices, etc.

All the bills are important for the govt which recently went through a new cabinet reshuffle amid the 17 about three bills need to get passed to replace ordinances promulgated recently.

Once a session starts, an ordinance has to be passed as a bill within next 42 days or six weeks in the parliament otherwise it get lapsed.

We have collated the brief details of 17 new bill to be tabled

1 The Essential Defence Services Ordinance bill 2021 is to check on an indefinite strike by the organisations. The bill has been listed to replace the ordinance.

2   The National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Bill, 2021 is placed to improve air quality that seeks to replace an ordinance.

This bill will ensure a permanent solution and establish a self-regulated, democratically monitored mechanism in the NCR and adjoining areas, rather than limited ad-hoc measures.

3 The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2021 will replace an ordinance to provide fast, cost-effective, semi-formal ways for insolvency proceedings for distress assets.

4 One of the most important to facilitate ease of doing business “Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021” which aims to amend the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, which will led to decriminalisation of about 12 compoundable offences.

5 The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2021 will separate the National Pension System Trust (NPS) from PFRDA to ensure a universal pension policy rollout.

5 The Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Amendment Bill, 2021 this bill will amend the rules related to the land acquisition and coal deposits.

6 The Indian Antarctica Bill, 2021 too to make rules and regulation for India’s activities in Antarctica.

7 The govt has also listed Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

8 The Modi govt has also listed the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021 which aims to not only for de-licensing of the power but also bring competition to the sector.

9 Another imp bill is Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2021 to fight with illegal trafficking.

10.Indian Marine Fisheries Bill

11 The Inland Vessels Bill

12 Parents Maintenance and Welfare of Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill of 2019, 

13 The National Institutes of Food Technology bill 2021.

14 Entrepreneurship Management Bill,

15 Another imp bills the Tribunal Reforms (Rationalisation and Conditions of Service) Bill, 2021.

While there is other imp bill too which will be tabled and discussed before the passage like Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2021-22.

Meanwhile, there are six other bills too are pending at various stages before the parliament.
