Sonia Gandhi writes PM to stop hike in petrol and diesel prices
New Delhi: Congress President Executive Chairman Sonia Gandhi has expressed concern over the continuous increase in petrol and diesel prices and the Modi government has demanded a rollback immediately. Sonia Gandhi said that the decision to increase the price in the era of Corona crisis is completely insensitive and wrong.
Sonia Gandhi in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that even when people are troubled due to the epidemic and the conditions arising from it, the government is not leaving any chance of making profit from them. Government-owned oil marketing companies have increased the price of petrol and diesel on Tuesday for the tenth consecutive day.
Gandhi said in his letter that I am extremely upset that since the crisis started in March, the government has taken a completely insensitive and wrong decision in the matter of petrol and diesel. The government showed its insensitivity by making similar decisions at least ten times. He alleged that the government earned about Rs 2.6 lakh crore of additional revenue by deciding on the wrong government. The government raised revenue by increasing excise duty and petrol-diesel prices.
The Congress President has demanded the government to immediately rollback the increase in the price of fuel and the benefit of cheap crude oil to consumers. He told the government that if it wants to make people financially strong then it should not weaken their economic power by putting burden on people’s pockets. Sonia Gandhi requested the government to give money directly to the common people in times of crisis.
