Malvika Sood, the sister of bollywood actor Sonu Sood, has joined the Congress in poll-bound Punjab. Malvika and his brother Sonu were welcomed into the party by Navjot Singh Sidhu, the state unit president, and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Prior to the February 14 assembly elections, Sidhu called the development a “game-changer.” “It’s unusual for a party head and the chief minister to go to someone’s residence together to award honours, and she deserves it,” Sidhu remarked.

The ceremony took place at the Sood residence in Punjab’s Moga region, and the actor had previously stated that his sister would enter politics in November of last year. When asked if Malvika Sood will run for the Moga assembly constituency, Channi said she would be the party’s first option.
“It brings us tremendous joy that a young woman who has made a name for herself by operating an NGO and dedicating herself to the service of the people is joining our party,” Sidhu remarked as he welcomed her into the Congress.
Sonu Sood, a Moga native, had previously stated that his sister has done “great” work in the past. Both Sidhu and Channi told reporters that the actor is well-known for his philanthropic efforts.
“In the cricketing world, it’s termed a game-changer,” Sidhu remarked of Malvika Sood’s decision to join the Congress and added that she is a young and smart woman.
Malvika Sood, speaking at the event, said she entered politics to dedicate herself to serving the people.
