Kerala Top, UP Lowest in NITI Aayog Health Performance Index

According to the fourth health index published by NITI Aayog, Kerala is again leading the overall health among the major states along with Uttar Pradesh being the lowest. The fourth iteration of the Health Index looked at the years 2019 and 2020. (Reference year). Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, respectively, were the second and third lowest performances.

However, according to the research, Uttar Pradesh topped the list in terms of incremental performance, with the biggest incremental improvement from the base year (2018-19) to the reference year (2019-20). (2019-20).

Kerala emerged as the best performer in terms of overall performance for the fourth time in a row, according to the study. Kerala and Tamil Nadu were the top two performers in terms of overall performance, with the highest reference year (2019-20) index scores, but ranked twelfth and eighth in terms of incremental performance, according to the study. Telangana fared well both in terms of overall and incremental performance, finishing third in both cases. Rajasthan was the worst performer in terms of overall and incremental performance, according to the report.

Mizoram and Tripura, in the instance of smaller states, demonstrated high overall performance while also improving incremental performance, according to the research. Select metrics from three categories, health outcomes, governance and information, and critical inputs and processes, make up the health index. The World Bank provided technical support to the report, which was created in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In terms of incremental performance, however, Uttar Pradesh has come out on top, with the biggest incremental change from the base year to the reference year.
