Azamgarh: General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, Priyanka Gandhi said today in Azamgarh, it is my duty to raise voice against crime and injustice, it is a fight to save the constitution, the Congress party is standing with you even today. Describing BJP as an advocate of anti-poor deprived laws, he said that the Yogi government of the Center and the state is anti-social justice and Dalit-backward.

Priyanka Gandhi reached Azamgarh today and met the women victims of police violence and harassment in the ongoing agitation against CAA and NRC in Bilariaganj. The aggrieved women told Priyanka Gandhi that a sit-in protest against the CAA and NRC was started peacefully from 10 am on February 4 at Maulana Ali Johar Park in Bilariaganj. The next day at 4 am, the District Magistrate and SSP of Azamgarh accompanied the entire force. The authorities summoned Maulana Tahir Madani Saheb to convince the women. A police officer openly threatened and said that we want to create a ruckus.

General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that I came to know that there was police violence in Bilariaganj in Azamgarh. Women were beaten with sticks. At midnight, tear gas shells were fired at the behest of women. Homes were broken into. There were arrests of innocent people wrongly. He said that I came to know and I came to Bilariaganj among you all.

The Congress General Secretary said that he has complained to the Human Rights Commission about the police violence in the ongoing movements against CAA-NRC. The Director General of Police and the Chief Secretary have been summoned. Wherever there will be oppression and oppression in the state, I will raise my voice. He said that he will also send a report of police harassment of Azamgarh, Bilariaganj to the Human Rights Commission.
