Modi government’s U turn on salary of lockdown period, said- we will not interfere in it
New Delhi: The Modi government, which ordered private companies to pay full salaries to employees during lockdown, has now taken a different approach in the Supreme Court. The government said that it is an issue between the company and the employee. Not only this, the government said that we will not interfere in it. Earlier, on March 29, an order was issued by the Union Home Ministry that companies would have to pay full salary to employees even during the lockdown period. If not done, action will be taken against them.
This order of the government was stayed by the Supreme Court while hearing a petition. Then the Supreme Court had said that after all, how many consecutive days the government expects companies to give full salary without work. Along with this, the court had stayed the observance of the order of the Home Ministry. Now a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan has said that there should be a consensus between the companies and employees to pay the salary during the 54-day lockdown.
The court made this remark while hearing petitions seeking to order companies regarding payment of salary during the lockdown. The court told the government that it has been your stand that the employees should be paid full salary even during the lockdown. In such a situation, now you should try to solve this issue. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, who was on the bench, told the central government, “You have been trying to put money in the employees’ pockets. In such a situation, some solutions need to be done now. ‘
