Lucknow: With up elections still more than six months away, but every political party and their strategist is making their political moves to outdo each other in the upcoming assembly poll 2022. Political circles in Lucknow, the state capital of Uttar Pradesh is abuzz that the Sharad Pawar, led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), will likely to forge an alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) to contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
However, SP or Akhilesh Yadav is yet to make any official announcement about this alliance, but, NCP Gen secretary and UP in charge K.K. Sharma stated, “That is exactly what Pawar Sahab wants. To contest elections in every state in alliance with the main opposition party to oust BJP from the power. In UP, the main opposition party is SP.”

Meanwhile, sources close to the issue are saying that this is the brainchild of political strategist Prashant Kishor; who is behind this prospective alliance, if it at all takes place in UP to check BJP from retaining the power in the state. Since PK believes BJP find it tough to challenge in one-to-one fight against satraps like its fight in West Bengal.
NCP sources said that “Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and NCP chief Sharad Pawar have discussed about the alliance nitty-gritty in detail in Delhi. Although, there is no discussion on the number of seats they would contest in UP state polls.
NCP, state president Uma Shankar Yadav said the arithmetic regarding alliance has been worked out. “We are ready to field fewer candidates this time. We just want few of our MLAs in the UP assembly.”
Presently, NCP is on the fringes in Uttar Pradesh’s political area, since it opened its office in Lucknow in 2001.
