Indian American Samir Banerjee wins Wimbledon Junior title

London: Bengali-American Samir Banerjee has won the final of Wimbledon Junior. Sameer defeated Viktor Lilov of his own country to win the Junior Slam singles title. Let us tell you that earlier in 1990, Leander Paes of Indian origin had won the Junior Wimbledon title.

Sameer Banerjee was born in a Bengali family. His parents immigrated to America around 1980. Presently Sameer lives in New Jersey. Sameer had finished 19th in the world at the Junior French Open. He has played 16 tournaments so far out of which he has reached the final 10 times. Sameer registered his victory 7-5, 6-3 in the Wimbledon final. The entire game lasted for one hour and 22 minutes.
