India is no longer a democratic country: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that India is no longer a democratic country. He said this while citing a report from a Swedish media institute. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi also shared a content with his tweet, which states that India is autocratic, just like Pakistan. India’s situation is worse than Bangladesh.

A week after the report of the American organization ‘Freedom House’, Swedish institution V-Democracy has also raised concerns over the state of democracy in India. V-Democracy has included India in the list of countries with ‘electoral autocracy’.

Last week, ‘Freedom House’, in its report titled ‘Democracy under seas’, placed India in the ‘Partially Independent’ category. The Government of India reacted sharply to it, dismissing the report as “misleading, inaccurate and inappropriate”.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had targeted the Modi government on the occasion of 100 days of the farmer movement. He had said that the donors of the country are demanding their rights and the government is persecuting them.
