India asked EU to accept Covishield and Covaxin, otherwise retaliate!

New Delhi: India has asked the European Union to accept Covidshield and Covaxin as vaccinations, or else it has warned to be ready to retaliate. Sources gave this information on Wednesday. India has said that if Indian vaccines are not approved, then travelers coming here to Europe will also have to face a mandatory 14-day quarantine. Sources said that Covishield and Covaxin should be notified in the European Union’s digital Covid certificate, so that citizens going there from India do not face any problem. At present, a vaccine passport is very important for traveling to any country.

In fact, a large number of people from India want to travel to European countries for jobs or studies, but they are facing problems due to not being allowed to link Indian vaccines with passports. Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla has also appealed to the Government of India to raise this issue at the diplomatic and political level.

It is an indication that India’s patience with the request for passport linking and recognition of vaccines has been answered. The sessions related to the Ministry of External Affairs said that if the EU does not change its stance, then India will also implement a counter policy regarding the vaccination certificate. In such a situation, India will not consider the vaccine given to a person in Europe and there will be no exemption from quarantine for travelers coming from there on coming to India.
